Unifi’s line of Access Control systems is one of their newer offerings, but is already on version 3 of the readers. This is NOT designed for the casual home user. There are plenty of home-based wifi locks for that scenario (And UniFiCT can assist you with that as well). However the Access system is designed for a more commercial or large residential environment, where you need centralized user management, an always available hard wired solution and Unifi’s special blend of easy to use dashboards with NO monthly service fees. 

Now, if you have a multi-location solution, you can make do with a no service fee option but you might want to consider one of Unifi’s enterprise level offerings where you pay a small fee per month per user and provide both centralized multi-location management, access control, easy WiFi security and simple VPN solutions.

Unifi offers solutions from $129 for an all-in-one reader and access control hub to $599 for a one door pro kit with camera and the ability to use a smart watch for entry. Larger installations will want to use their 8-door hubs and then pair them up with readers which have cameras and those without. 

The access control system also provides solutions for apartment buildings that need Intercoms, both at the entrance as well as inside each apartment and to allow the residents to easily provide access to their guests or service people. 

Even Gates and Elevators can get in on the fun with a package from Unifi to Accessify those items. 

The Access software is built into some of the Unifi Cloud Gateways or into all their Unifi NVRs. You select the right amount of horsepower for your needs.
