Planning

A solid UniFi implementation starts with a plan. Let us plan with YOU to build the optimal solution

Planning

The first step in any successful system rollout is to first figure out the plan. As part of this first consulting step, we will sit down with the key stakeholders to understand your current IT infrastructure, your experience with Unifi, and to understand the needs of the organization when it comes to utilizing Unifi. The next step is to understand the budget, both for the equipment, the installation and any followup support required.

Unifi provides many different solutions across their entire product spectrum and it will be important for us to understand the scope of the project, the budget and importantly, the level of reliability that you need built into this solution. Will you need switches that have redundant power supplies or hot spares already installed in the rack? Do you want to keep spare equipment on the shelf in case of failure, or are you fine waiting a week to receive replacements? All of these decisions will be important as we specify a solution for your team.

Depending on the type of solution we are developing (Protect, Access, Network or Talk), we will then create an equipment design document utilizing the Unifi Design Center. We will use a set of building plans that you provide to overlay the equipment that we recommend for purchase. The Unifi Design Center allows us to identify WiFi signal strength, camera positions and access control locations. This also provides a very convenient way to visualize the solution when it comes to installation.

The next deliverable will be an equipment outline along with potential product options. Depending on the project, we will usually create a Good, Better, Best solution that outlines three solutions to your project needs and then allows you to select the best solution based on your budget.

If the project requires outside resources to implement, we will work with your existing providers or, if needed, our partner companies to develop a list of equipment and services that will need to be implemented as part of the project. This is usually things like cabling, lift rentals, backup internet solutions, etc.

Finally, depending on the scope of the project, we will develop a Project Plan that outlines the timeline and steps that have to be taken in order to complete the project in a timely manner.
